It's that time of year again. Pumpkin spice everything.

We always encourage the path to optimal health and wellness is to become aware of unknown ingredients. The Food Babe did a great job demanding transparency from a company that used Class IV Caramel Coloring in their pumpkin spice which she explained in her book Feeding You Lies: How to Unravel the Food Industry's Playbook and Reclaim Your Health. I am bringing you this homemade recipe to help you avoid the unknown ingredients in the famous pumpkin spice that will be all around us for the next several months.
I have been taking time to learn a lot more about ingredients not only in personal care products but in the food that I eat too. It has been truly life changing to develop an understanding about nutrition and the impact food has on my body, both positively and negatively, depending on the food we choose to fuel our body.

Personally, I believe its all about becoming informed, at least that is what I tell my middle school health students. When you become informed, you can begin to make the best choices for you and your family. You can decide which risks you are willing to take and which risks your are going to avoid.

Personally, becoming informed has empowered me to feel better about my health than ever before and I highly recommend reading these three books if you are ready to make changes in the kitchen too.
