The Properties of Grounding Essential Oil

Grounding essential oil. Obviously this oil sounds like it was made specifically for grounding applications such as mindfulness and meditation. This oil is made of White Fir, Black Spruce, Ylang Ylang, Pine, Cedarwood, Angelica, and Juniper! Each oil has specific characteristics known believed to create a calming effect in the body.

Aromas and scents have influences on the olfactory bulb, which is a n
eural structure of the forebrain responsible for olfaction (sense of smell). The power of smell is beyond most of our comprehension! Think of how a bad smell can instantly put you in a bad mood. In contrast, think of how a good smell can immediately elevate your mood!

In total, there are 7 essential oils in Grounding Oil:
  1. Ylang Ylang- distilled from flowers of trees grown in Ecuador and Madagascar, this oil has a sweet aroma and moisturizing properties, making it a key ingredient in many luxury skin and hair products making it a perfect "spa-like" oil
  2. Black Spruce- rich, woodsy, and invigorating scent makes it perfect for the grounding effects of meditation
  3. Cedarwood- another woodsy aroma with hints of warm balsamic aroma to facilitate relaxation and induce a calming effect
  4. Juniper- earthy aroma for a peaceful atmosphere
  5. White Fir- crisp, clean, refreshing aroma reminds you of a Christmas tree
  6. Pine- refreshing and empowering scent
  7. Angelica- referred to as the "oil of angels" because of its calming aroma

A majority of these oils are from bark wrapped trees found in the forest. When used in combination, they create a wonderful aroma in the Grounding essential oil. Grounding is often synonymous with "earthing" which is a concept of reconnecting the human body to the earth's surface electrons for healing capabilities. Although this is a slightly different concept, because your feet are actually contacting the earth's surface when earthing, you will still receive the aromatic benefits of nature through grounding essential oil.

When I think of a tree I think of something sturdy with durable characteristics. When I smell a particular type of tree I can bring that thought to life by creating a grounded, sturdy environment in my central nervous system by performing deep breathing simultaneously. The goal here is to create an environment that is strong and can weather high winds and strong storms, just like a tree!

There are several methods for using Grounding Essential Oil.

Direct Application: simply apply Grounding Essential Oil to the soles of the feet, shoulders, on hands to cup nose with deep breathing or apply on diffuser jewelry. I have listed some of my favorite jewelry on my supply page. It’s a great way to use your essential oils all day.

Roller blends: inside of a roller you can create the following blends (1-2 drops each per oil) diluted with a carrier oil:
  • Conquer The World Roller: Grounding + Valor + Joy, even add White Angelica!
  • Chill Roller:  Lavender + White Angelica + Valor + Grounding
  • Nighttime: Lavender, Northern Lights Black Spruce, + Grounding
You can apply these rollers to wrists, behind ears, or on your feet and learn more about right here by reading: Essential Oil Roller Recipes.

  • Lovely: Grounding + Tangerine
  • Nighttime: Add a few drops of Grounding Essen to your nighttime diffuser blend.

You can add Grounding to your relaxing and calming diffuser blends, some of our favorite are Surrender, White Angelica, Northern Lights Black Spruce, and Lavender.

Chakra Support
Over the last year of using essential oils I found myself interested in learning more about Chakras. Grounding oil seems to be an excellent oil for balancing the 7 Chakras, More specifically, grounding may be best suited to influence the Root Chakra which is the foundation of our energy. The Root Chakra is key to feeling grounded, secure, and stable so what better way to influence than a durable essential oil blend like Grounding. The Root Chakra is located at the bottom or base of the spine and is considered the 1st Chakra. and support the connection to the earth and emotional clearing.

Yoga and Mediation:
After being a collegiate lacrosse player, I decided it was time to find a new passion that would give me the opportunity to care for my fitness in a new way. Over the last several years I found passion and value in yoga and mindfulness practices. Since I have implemented oils into my life I realize how well they complement my yoga practice.  Grounding Essential Oil is wonderful to use during restorative or hatha yoga. It is even an excellent oil for mindfulness meditation practice. To support your practices, you may choose to diffuse for aromatic benefits or apply topically to feet or wrists.
