Have you been keeping up with your fitness goals? There's nothing worse than getting back into the gym or hitting the pavement for a run and then being so sore the following day.

Sometimes our body just needs a little TLC so I have a few ideas to share with you to help soothe muscles, joints, and ligaments. We find these ideas very useful in our house after exercising and training for our gradually aging bodies.

My husband and I use both Nature's Ultra CBD Muscle & Joint Balm and simple DIY muscle creams too. Be sure to check out the two DIY recipes below.

In this post we discuss

  1. Nature's Ultra Joint & Muscle Balm
  2. Two DIY Muscle Cream Recipes

I like to apply these muscle creams to areas targeted during my work-out or when feeling like I over did it post-workout.

Tell us in the comments below which muscle cream you prefer!

1. Nature's Ultra Joint & Muscle Balm

We use the CBD Muscle Rub from Nature's Ultra when we need an extra-boost on specific locations on our body. It takes the hot-and-cold sensation of menthol and gives it a boost by infusing it with an array of all-natural Young Living essential oils: Camphor, Clove, Helichrysum, Lemon, Peppermint, Tea Tree, Wintergreen, and more. These ingredients work hard together to soothe your hard-working body. The CBD Muscle Balm is infused with 100% pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils from Young Living Essential Oils.

2. Make Your Own Muscle Rub

Our two favorite DIY muscle rub recipes

Recipe 1
Ingredients for simple DIY Muscle Rub:
  • 1/2 cup organic Coconut Oil
  • 20-30 drops of essential oils such as Panaway, Peppermint, Copaiba, and Lemongrass. (How to Order)

Directions for simple DIY Muscle Rub
  • Use about 1/2 cup of solid coconut oil and place in a glass mixing bowl.
  • Use a hand mixer to whip coconut oil for 10 minutes until fluffy
  • Add your choice of essential oils and use proper dilution for safe use.  I add about 20 drops total using oils such as Panaway, Peppermint, and Copaiba. Other essential oil options include but not limited to: Marjoram essential oil, Deep Relief Essential Oil, Valor Essential Oil, Lemongrass Essential Oil. I always read through my Essential Oil Desk Reference Guide when deciding which essential oils to use.
  • Spoon the DIY muscle rub into glass jars and store in a temperature regulated area.

Muscle and Joint-related essential oils (info provided by Young Living)
  • PanAway is a blend that contains Wintergreen, Helichrysum, Clove, and Peppermint. Included in the Premium Starter Kit collection. It can be applied topically to muscles or joints after exercise for it's soothing properties. Panaway has a stimulating aroma, add to V-6 or any carrier oil and apply to neck or back for soothing aromatic experience.
  • Peppermint is popular very essential oil, also included in the Premium Starter Kit. I enjoy using peppermint for it's cool and refreshing aroma. Peppermint creates a cooling sensation when applied topically. Add more for a deeper cooling sensation.
  • Marjoram is relaxing and calming to muscles. Dilute 1 drop with 1 drop of V-6™ or carrier oil and apply to desired area as needed. Even could be used in massage after exercise.
  • Copaiba is known to enhance the effects of other oils. I call it a magnifier and add it to many DIY recipes.
*Order your Young Living Essential Oils through your virtual office or purchase them through me. Learn "How to Order" then purchase from "Our Team" page to gain access to more education at no additional cost to you.
Each essential oil will have different characteristics and properties, so research which oil you choose prior to putting into recipes. I have found the Essential Oil Desk Reference to be a big help. Don't forget to comment below when you give this recipe a try!
