Learn how to give your laundry an extra fresh boost!

I know from talking to many friends that sometimes we may feel our "natural" or DIY laundry detergent just doesn't seem to cut it for the dirty gym socks. Although I usually have no problem adding a little vinegar to the softener section of the washing machine I was recently introduced to an awesome extra laundry boost that helps even more.

Remember friends, I am here to help you find DIY recipes, life-hacks, and tips that help limit exposures of unwanted ingredients. If our laundry isn't getting fresh, you don't need to turn to your dryer sheets or chemical filled products. Let's give your Thieves Laundry Detergent or DIY Laundry Detergent an extra boost to help freshen all your laundry.

I have found great success with this laundry boost which I made in a large jar and have simply been enjoying the aromatherapy when I open the container filled with essential oils during the chore. Be sure to comment below once you give this recipe a try!

Ingredients for DIY Laundry Boost:

 • Baking soda
 • Epsom salts
 • Essential oils
 • Glass jar

Directions for DIY Laundry Boost:
 • Combine one part Baking Soda with one part Epsom salt in a large glass container.
 • Add desired essential oils to the mixture. I prefer to add essential oils such as Thieves, Lemon, Lemongrass, or Purification because of the fresh aroma that they bring. The number of drops will depend on jar size.

How to use the DIY Laundry Boost:
 • Be sure to follow directions for your washing machine.
 • Load laundry into washing machine, add laundry detergent as directed for machine.
 • I add vinegar to the fabric softener compartment. (Learn why we use vinegar)
 • Then sprinkle about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of laundry boost over clothing.
 • Set on the desired wash cycle.
 • Enjoy fresh clean cloths!

Please tell us which essential oils you enjoy in your laundry boost in the comments below!

We just tried it with lavender and it worked amazingly! Our clothes smell so good and feel so much more natural. I've always hated laundry but the past three months were exceptionally bad! The main problem was that a bird decided to make a nest in our dryer vent haha After I had a pro dryer vent cleaner out to free up the vent, things improved. I still wanted to find something more to help me enjoy the laundry and that's when I found your blog. I loved this laundry boost and making it helped me like doing the laundry just a little bit more. Can't thank you enough.

Do you know if using only 1 part baking soda and 1 part Epsom salt with a drop of essential oil will cause corrosion on the washer machine?
